Default Shorted wire in loom/New connectors?

So i diagnosed my radiator fan not kicking on to a short in the coolant switch wire somewhere between the shock tower connection and the sensor plug itself. Ive never replaced any wiring on my car so my question is what is the easiest way to replace this wire? Im not sure exactly where the short itself is but I assume if I find that just soldering or fixing that would be easiest. But if the whole wire/plug to the coolant switch needs to be replaced is there some place that sells that or would i just need to junkyard hunt?

First install a new wire to see if the problem is fixed.

All the round 2-wire sensor plugs are the same.

The best way to repair a harness is to remove it from the car and undo the tape and plastic covering, do any splices with solder, then re-tape it.

It is common to have the contact holes in the plug get damaged putting in a paper clip, etc to jump it and then it no longer makes contact with the switch then the fan won't start.

Or cut the shorted wire segment and solder in a new wire.

To repin the plugs you usually have to gently pull out the inner white cover on the inside of the plug. Then you can use a tiny jeweler's flat tip to slide between the spade and the grey plastic piece that holds the spade from sliding out the back of the plug.
