Well I've owned this car for about 3 years, I sold it off in pieces a while back (kids or car 🤷*♂️) and I rebought it as a bare chassis. In horrible condition. So here is the restoration/rebuild!
Relocated my brake proportional valve to the firewall, used a Riv nut to get it bolted on nicely, Trusty riv nut tool, not sure what I would have done without it, A small casualty, she demanded literal blood sweat and tears!
Last owner tried to do a "shaved bay" but didn't clean any of the welds, so I cleaned them all up. Everything with yellow paint was the \"shaved bay" after gringing it i used the yellow paint to stop any rust that may pop up until i pai t the bay.
Hell ya dude. I love taking cars that were on their death bed and bringing them back to life. Always wanted to do a k swap crx! Keep it up can't wait to see what it turns out like.
Welp I was stupid and I never bothered checking the condition of my transmission before I put it in. When I put the half shaft in I heard a crazy noise when I spun it in the trans, thank God I bought it from a legit place that offers warranty on these things ! So swap was yanked back out and tomorrow I'll exchange the trans
Alright ! New trans is here and it seems to be mint compared to my last one ! (Differential turned out to be bad), so I got the great idea since my swap is out it's a sign from the gods to do my bay, and attempt to make it a **** ton cleaner than it was. So I sanded the hell out of it and threw a coat of high build primer on it. Also I picked out the color of the bay/car, i think its going to be an amazing color for a crx New type S trans ! Supplies to get this bay in proper order My brothers a clearly better painter than i am so i let him have at it Final result of primer before i sand and apply bondo and some more primer to get her ready for paint Incase anyone likes the color this is the color im using This will be her final color !
being as how I don't have a compressor we will be using this to paint my entire bay.
Alright guys, I tried to take enough picture if this process, we applied a rather large amount of bondo and sanded it.... for hours..... it didn't come out the greatest in the world but fair warning we aren't body guys or painters and I refuse to pay someone for something I think I can do myself so I tried my best and I think the fi al result is actually quite nice, Crappy bondo More crappy bondo Primered it some more once i shaved down the 10 pounds of bondo to attempt to give it a nice look. Paints mixed up and ready to spray The first coat of the green The final result of green, actually looks rather nice even tho you cant see any of the pearls . I ordered this peal so i could legit slap it on and give it a unique look. Yellow slap Yellow slap #2 This clear coat was absolutely worth the $30 And i cleared right over the yellow that i slapped on the green and i couldnt be happier with the final result, maybe ill toss another coat of clear tomorrow once it settles a bit
Looking really good, props for tackling the shaved bay yourself. I think it turned out looking pretty nice.
I like how you moved the proportioning valve to the firewall. It looks like you still have stock lines - did you just unhook the lines and bend them to make it work like that?

thank you alot man! And yea I just u bolted and moved em on over to the firewall
No offense bro, I understand that you're not a body guy and wanted to give it a try but I think the guy is implying that the bay really needs a lot more work. I mean it's your car and that is cool but it probably would have been worth it to just pay someone to tackle the body work and paint.
I don't quite understand why weld a bunch of holes closed in the bay, then not grind them down or finish shaving any of them? It just appears half done.
The green-yellow is an odd combo, but it's your car.

He’ll get a second chance when all that unsanded bondo cracks and falls off.
bondo was sanded. And if it breaks off then it'll be a learning experience, I'd rather say I did everything on my car instead of paying to have it done, but we all aren't the same I suppose.
