Default Abnormal idle while in park/neutral

So I noticed my 94 wagon when put in park or neutral after driving will sit at 1250-1500 rpm. Pushing on the throttle body spring will always bring it down. I replaced the tb as well as cleaned both. When the car is in drive this is not an issue. I did adjust the transmission cable but it does not seem to clear the issue. So I am at a loss as to why this is occurring. I am also unable to find the replacement transmission cable to try and rule out a sticky cable.

Additionally, this condition only exists after the car has been driven. If it just idles, without being put in gear it stays at 750rpm no problem after it has come up to temp.

Did you clean fast idle control valve? the plunger may have backed out and needs to be tighten down. Is IACV clean?

FITV is clean, IACV is clean. If car is not driven and engine comes up to temperature it idles just fine. Issue only occurs after the engine comes up to temp and the transmission is put into gear, then put into park or nuetral. pushing the the cable from the throttle/transmission on its spring return up against hte stop plate makes it go away until its driven again.

How about gaskets? I would replace throttle body, FITV, and IACV gaskets. Even a tiny hole can cause a vaccum leak, this happened to me when I took out my TB and IACV. It ended up being the TB gasket not sealing 100% but this would only be apparent when the car was really warm, like after driving for an hour. The idle would surge up and down even having replaced IACV + gasket and EGR gasket.

I replaced the TB, and gaskets. I did all the idle checks. Car idles perfectly when its not been driven and comes up to temp. @ ~750 rpm. The issue occurs after driving. The car does not hunt for idle, instead its like the transmission throttle cable is holding at around 1250-1500 rpm until someone pushes it back to the stop plate. 2 different TB with a new gasket (with different sensors, different fitv) are doing the same thing.

your right, sourcing a new cable doesn't look good. I would pull the cable and shoot PJ1 Motorcycle Cable Cleaner/Lube (wps 57-0112) in it. I have a pickapart yard close to me, their inventory shows several 94s. http://www.pickapartva.com/inventory...cle-inventory/
