I love my Honda and thinking to get HONDATA S300 on my EG with OBD1 JDM B18C Type R engine but kind worried you know its quite expensive whatever Used/New & Hondata Hardware not included.
However Its quite old electronics that still kind expensive after more than 15 year ago.
On other hand Hondata S200 & S100 are discounted.
Please has anyone struggles with B18C JDM & HONDATA S300 technical issue or no extra fees or hardware to be needed later or anything, what do you suggest, please.

Hondata is CHEAP compared to other engine management systems with the level of features that the s300 has. If you buy a brand new ECU from a dealership, sure you can jump the price up a bit... but there are lower cost alternatives like remanufactured ECU's that will likely last long term. ALL engine management systems have a warranty of 1 year or less, so I am not sure what you expect beyond that. Forget the s100/s200 options as these have been discontinued for years and can no longer be purchased new, so they would come from some individual on Ebay or Craigslist...

I have owned Hondata systems for nearly twenty years and have never had problems or failures from them.

 

that's not really true, there are several other alternatives that give you the same (or so close it's not worth mentioning) that would be used for a NA JDM B18C, for less money.
these are all based on using the Honda ECU and controlling it via the eternal PROM. [Neptune, eCtune, Crome, etc]

I budget tuned my car the first time with Uberdata and a DIY wideband, total cost was <$100.
There were limitations and issues that made me want more in the way of willing to pay for it. (I've owned and tuned my own car on Uberdata, Crome, Hondata S100, eCtune, Hondata S300, & Neptune) [in that order] The last is where it is for a reason, IMO it's the best out there.

the more expensive alternatives you refer to are likely the ones that have developed their own hardware and are not limited to only controlling a honda. And there are DIY [cheaper] versions of those also.

ECU tuning is not a cheap place to get into... but the price you are looking at may include the OBD1 ECU and a few other things that you do not need (ie boost control solenoid, etc), there are many places to pick up an OBD1 ECU that has had the capacitors replaced and the internals checked... they will likely outlast the car. Most of these ECUs will accept the Hondata unit (or any other platform) with no problems.
