new coil lead to no engine turnover
Changed the coil on my 1991 honda crx hf (disconnected the neg bat cable beforehand). Remade a new battery cable to the starter. When I turned the key after reconnecting the neg battery cable, engine will not turn over. The car was running when I brought it into the garage to change the coil. Have put a test light on the wire running to the solenoid(?) when trying to start with neg results. Ran a jumper from the solenoid to the starter and the engine does to over. I don't want to start throwing parts at this car. Ran a continuity check on the ignition switch which reveal no problems. All fuses are intact. Starter relay?
why did you make a new cable from the +battery to the starter?
also sounds like thats the problem

The car has a turbo installed from the previous owner and the battery is in the back. I installed a power distribution block in the engine compartment along with a new #1 cable running from the trunk to the engine compartment. The old cable from the distribution block to the starter had no slack to accommodate engine movement. I checked this cable for power and it has power to the starter.
