I have a 2002 Civic LX. 1.7 litre bought the car and they guy said it needed a fuel pump that it would run for a little bit shut off and take 20-30 minutes to crank back up. I never asked questions I just pulled it home and changed the pump and everything seemed great no cel or anything. Well later that night I was driving and the engine light came on and it threw itself into limp mode or safety mode whatever it's called on a Honda so I pulled over **** it off popped the hood and the exhaust manifold was glowing red like really red. I let it.cool off and it drive home no problem engine light went off and everything. I took the manifold off and gutted the converter put it back on and to my surprise in did it again but this time it didn't glowing as bright. Anyways I pulled the codes and it's pulling p0171 and p0118 the car seems like it's flooding itself with gas I may cranl it and it be perfect then turn it off and it won't crank and I'll have to pull the fuse for the fuel system whine the starter for a minute put the fuse back hold the throttle about 80% while cranking and it'll normally crank back up I don't have alot of money to go have the dealership or shop fix it I'm capable of fixing it if I can get a good diagnosis by opinion so any help would be great so thanks in advance
So you have a too lean bank 1 code and a coolant overheat code. I suspect the overheat happened when your manifold took a **** and lit itself up. I tend to agree with your too rich diagnosis, seems like it might be the upstream 02 sensor that is reading incorrectly and telling the ecu to supply too much fuel.
