It may vary between States and even countries (I'm in Canada), or maybe if just varies on police forces, but I just bought an 08 si and was stopped because the cop said my muffler was louder than normal (which it is). It has a HFP muffler and from what I understand there is nothing illegal about this since it does come from the manufacturer and was made for this car. Anyone have any problems with cops and their HFP muffler?
You just go on about your business, cops will be cops, as long as you arent doing anything wrong(or illegal) you have nothing to worry about. If one wants to ge "Fresh" with you just happily take the ticket and go to court, theres no way youll lose. I find it hilarious that they frown on a 4 cylinder with a stock muffler but challengers and mustangs get a pass everytime.
Technically no. Mufflers don't affect (gas) emissions as much as people think so you might still be able to pass a smog test. HPF mufflers still have a somewhat factory look and they're not too aggressive so as long as your entire setup is not too loud you will be fine.
It's legal as it's an OEM exhaust that can be purchased from the dealer. A lot of guys I know up here in the Great White North have them and no issues.
