Default Eh9 won’t start until check engine light turns off

so my eh9 won’t start until the check engine light turns off which can sometimes take upwards of 30min depending on how long the car sits for. Once it turns off I can hear the relay pick ang the fuel pump cycle. After that it fires right up! I’ve alrasy re soldered the main relay and I’m suspecting it’s the ecm but maybe someone can confirm what I’m dealing with before I buy a new ecm? Thanks!

If you're sure the main relay is good, then yes it is the ECU. Replacing the capacitors inside your ECU may fix it.

thank you! So the ecu is fixable? Do you by chance have a link showing the process?

Before you forge into the ECU for repairs, why don't you try another known good ECU and see if the car functions differently.

open the case and look for burnt/leaking capacitors.

You can send your ECU to Hondata for capacitor replacement. It costs $50 to have the pros do it. Or you can spend just a few $ and replace the electrolytic capacitors yourself if you are confident with a soldering iron. If you do it yourself, I'd recommend buying some good quality capacitors, like Nichicon Fine Gold.
