Default Interchangeability of H22 timing covers?

I'm in the process of replacing my H22A1 with a JDM H22A. As part of that process, I'm doing a timing belt/water pump kit. The middle timing cover is in okay shape, but the lower timing cover is pretty rough, with at least half of the mounting points broken off. I checked on a few of the OEM parts sites and it appears that the original and succession part numbers have been discontinued - 11810-P13-000, succeeded by -010, which was then succeeded by -020. Anyone know if a H22A4 lower timing cover will fit?

Thanks in advance,

Jason

The H22A4 lower timing cover doesn't fit unless you install a '96+ oil pump. The covers that will work in your application are '94-95 F22, H22, H23 as well as any JDM F20B and H22A engine.

Thanks JRCivic1. Just to confirm, you're referencing all the Prelude engine models, correct? It looks like the H22/H23 Prelude lower cover is NLA from Honda, and the F22 doesn't have the hole for the auto-tensioner maintenance bolt (at least if the OEM schematics are to be believed). I was hoping there might still be one in production that would work, i.e. something from an F22 Accord. Our local pick-n-pull yard doesn't have a single H22 in it, and eBay hasn't been much help - all Prelude lower covers are listed as compatible 93-01.

I'd rather not replace the oil pump if I don't have to - can the 97+ cover be modified to fit?

Thanks...

When I referred to fitment interchangeability, I was focusing on the "perimeter fitment" mostly. There are slight differences that can be easily modified so that "X" cover can be utilized on "Y" application... you have alluded to one already. You can simply mark the index/maintenance bolt hole that you referenced and drill it. The Accord covers will have a raised TDC alignment tab on it that is not found on the H22/23 covers... which can be kept or cut off for easier installation.

Honestly, I didn't think about the index bolt hole because I would NEVER run the auto-tensioner system on any H22 I care about. This means that the index bolt would be unnecessary, and thus, not stick out of the cover.
