Default Progress Coilovers

Whats up everyone,

I wanted some insight on the Progress CS2 coilover kit. I have a 2000 Civic SI with skunk 2 springs I want to replace. I'm currently running an n/a B20v which i plan to boost later. After looking at all the options, i'm leaning more towards the street-sport set up. The spring rates are 450 front and 450 rear. My question to anyone who runs these is how's the ride and how long have they lasted?.

I know there's some reviews already on their thread, but i want to hear from personal opinions Thanks!

Had two sets, one for my old '00 Civic EX coupe and currently on my Del Sol. For the money, the setup is hard to beat. Yes, they are NOT adjustable dampering but if you get the correct spring rating combo, they ride just fine. They've been on my Del Sol for about 1.5yrs now and still in good condition, no leaks or weird noises. If the dampers do go bad, Progress sells replacements for around $55/ea. The company has been around for over 20yrs and they stand behind their products. Don't even bother looking into those crap Form&Function coilovers. Those are glorified by Fanbois who buy **** just to be cool and can't turn a socket wrench.

I would go for a 450F/350R. I'm sure you're not hauling a lot of people in your car.

Cool, thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it! why would you say 450/350 over 450/450?

Since most of the weight is in the front, overall ride quality is affected significantly by the rear spring stiffness. I have ground control coilovers/Koni shocks with 550F/450R and I don't mind the ride at all, but it's by no means cushy. Kinda hurts my back after driving it around for a while.

I bought some CS 2's for my car, but I haven't put them on yet. I'm pretty sure I got 450 front 350 rear after doing some research on here.

I was thinking about this setup also. I just don’t feel comfortable building them... these Coilovers needed to be preloaded right . ? How are these Coilovers adjusted when it comes to height ?

The height adjustment is done from the spring perch. There is no preload to adjust. You just put your stock top hats on and set height and go.

Oh that seems pretty easy...

Question: Having no preload is that good or bad?

It depends on the type of coilover system you are running. On this kit, it is designed without preload necessary.

450/450 is more for "drag" setup where you need stiffer control for the rear. If your car is mostly for street, go with the 450/350

I’ve been running a set of CS2 coilovers on both me ef and my eg for 1 1/2 years. My eg started out as a B18C1 swapped, daily with 450f/350r and had a nice feel on the street without being overvsprung. When I started using it for autocross, it upgraded my rear spring rate to 550 and kept the 450 up front to get better rotation. It was a great combination, but a little ruff for street use. By the end of the year, I had caged, gutted, and further prepped the car for road racing and moved the 550 to the front and put 650 in the rear. Now running R comp race tires, the CS2 coilovers were a great Novice setup and with no adjustments, it allowed me to just focus on driving the car. As I gained confidence and my skill level improved, I wanted to further increase the spring rate, but after a phone call to Ed at Progress, he suggested that the valuing on the CS2 is not designed for a spring rate higher then 650. So I installed a 21mm front sway bar to reduce front roll and that helped significantly. Overall, I have to say that I’ve been really happy with the CS2. Install was very straight forward, customer service / tech support is awesome, and I really don’t think you can find anything better at the same price. Like others have said, for daily/street, your ride quality will definitely be determined by your rear spring rate. With the motor swap you are running, I would not go lower then 450 front, and 350 rear for a sport feel without being to harsh.

Thank you all! Great feedback! I'm going with the 450 front / 350 rear.

since the CS-II's require you to use the stock top hats, make sure yours are in good condition. If not, get some better ones...not aftermarket but Genuine Honda or OEM equivalent (auto parts store, online, etc).

Hey,
I'm new and am wondering about getting the progress coilovers and wondering for a mostly street build what do you guys think, after reading a few threads 450F /350R seems to be a good start point
but am wondering why as I'm not quite sure how this will affect the overall handling of the car?
Thanks in advance guys

I've been running these in my EG since 2015. I'm pretty sure I was sold the 350f/250r and it's fine but I keep thinking I want to move the 350 to the rear and get 450 for the front. This car is mostly stock and daily driven. I set my lower spring perch to just snug up to the bottom of the spring, no compression and this is almost the perfect ride height. After my 5 lug swap is in and my new wheels are on, I'll probably lower the rear just a tad to fill out the wheel wells. Very happy with the quality and the longevity. Great support and the price if awesome for what you get.

I had 450F/350R on my setup and upgraded the rear springs to 450s (JEGS brand, not Progress) and noticed a huge difference. Depending on your setup, get the correct coil rate at the time of purchase. BTW, I went with JEGS upgraded springs instead of Progress due to price. It's cheaper and they're also made in USA like Progress' springs.
