Default 98 Honda Civic in limp mode won't pass 3500 rpm

Hello everyone, my 1998 honda civic has been in limp mode and won't pass 3500 rpm. It's throwing the code p0335 which is the crankshaft position sensor, I brought it to a mechanic and we changed the crankshaft position sensor with a duralast brand as well as the timing belt, but it's still stuck in limp mode and still throwing the code p0335.

I also tried replacing the ecu and still no luck.

About 2 months ago, I changed the distributor because it was misfiring, but after I changed the distributor the misfiring stopped and then my car became limp mode.

Car specs:
1998 Honda civic Dx
Automatic
d16y

Not sure what I should do next, please help. Thanks.

The crank position sensor (CKP) is located inside the distributor... so, if you and your mechanic changed the sensor located down low on the engine near the crankshaft, you have actually changed the crankshaft fluctuation sensor (CKF) which isn't associated with the problem that you have a code for. It is common to have problems with low cost aftermarket distributors... and since you didn't mention having any distributor related codes before changing out the distributor for a new one, I would suggest you replace the coil and igniter in the original distributor housing and use the quality pick-ups found there for the TDC, CKP and CYP sensors. This should solve your problem.

The distributor sensors can be checked with an ohmmeter. Like JRCivic said, mix and match parts until you have a good one.
