Post Type R Replica Seats Update/Review

I wanted to post this as an update but also as a review on these seats. I wanted DC2 Type R seats but could not find them for a good price and in really good condition. The ones that I did find in decent condition were around $1000. Now I do not mind paying for quality but also focus on bang for the buck since I am not a “Baller” by any means.

I found these seats on Amazon that appear to be the same as the NRG seats without their logo. I did a lot of research and found mostly negative reviews on these seats. After much debate I decided to take the plunge and buy these since they were brand new vs used seats and $300 vs $1000.

They arrived with sliders and mounts for my eg. The only thing that was missing was the bolts to mount the slider to the eg mount. After a trip to the store and a night getting them installed and fit just right I am really happy and impressed with my purchase. The seats appear to be really solid and feel great. Now time will tell how they hold up but I think they will hold up fine.

A lot of people mentioned on sites that these were not DOT approved and that is correct. However, my assumption is that they were focusing on pricing and to get DOT approved would require a lot of time and money for testing. This would end up driving the price so I imagine this might be why they are not DOT approved.

I work for a company that makes tuning devices for American cars and trucks. We offer preloaded tunes that increase horsepower but do not claim mpg gains. We have found that our devices increase mpgs as well but do not want to claim it because we would need to back it up with testing.

Anyway sorry for the long post but wanted to put this for anyone looking at these seats and sees a lot of the negative reviews.

They look good, but as you've already hinted at, I'd be concerned at how these would hold up should a collision ever occur.
