Default Camshaft at True TDC

Hi there , i just installed a new motor and i also installed a set of skunk2 camshafts and aem camgears. I put the crank at TDC according to the 2 arrows on the crank and i have fallow the AEM mark on the camgears to set the cams at TDC but when i crank the car I feel like its off by 1 or 2 tooth... idle is very rough and i need to give gas to hold it at 1500-2000rpm .... under 1500 rpm it dies just right up.

Is there a way i know for sure the camshaft are at TDC without checking the camgears reference ?

I know some of other engine they have hole where you just put screws in them to hold them at TDC but how we do it with hondas ??
