Default Hondata

I was just wondering what exactly the hondata is used for and how much it costs.

you also have to remember that you cant use a hondata with our ECU. You will have to buy a conversion harness and swap out the ecu (probably with a GSR ECU) so you can open the secondaries.

Hondata = dyno time = $$$$

I'd just get a standalone. To me the hondata is just a glorified piggyback. I would run a Tec2 or 3 or get the AEM setup. (don't really care for AEM ECU but a REAL standalone will be much better than a hondata for medium-wild applications)

Do you have any experience dyno tuning the AEM? If aem sends you a base program that actually allows the car to crank, then you are looking at a good 6-8 hours to tune the car. Sure there are better systems out there then the hondata, but you have to know what you want from your car. For a daily driver wanting 450whp then id recommend hondata.

Our ecu is a P13 model, and Hondata does not modify it yet. The obd2 preludes are still using p13 ecus, but they have a different adapter. We can use the p72(gsr) or p28(civic ex). The p28 does not have secondary runner support, but I am not going to need it anyway.

For the money, you cannot beat hondata.

GM sensors? Custom crank trigger? Custom wiring harness? Direct fire igintion? Do DSM's come with stock direct fire? Could be anything like that.

DSM's use DIS ignition, and are MASS flow, so they wouldn't have a GM sensor...

but just by glancing under the hood??? amybe if the damn standalone was mounted under the hood

The point is most standalones DO use GM sensors and if it was running a standalone, it would be converted to MAP with seperately taped GM coolant and air temp sensors.

Has anyone used the P72/Hondata combo in an N/A 5th gen? Apperently their new setup for the K20 is very impressive, especially in terms of torque. I am pretty interested to see what they could do on an N/A H22. Anybody have any info?

I agree that the AEM is a POS, they just released a new upgrade for it and thguy here that has one is STILL tuning it. It's been like over a month since he had it put in, dyno'd it to get it runnin, and then has just been drivin around tryin to tune it out.

Personally I have seen with my own eyes a car make 20 more HP to the wheels by changing from a FAST setup to a Tec2 setup. Plus the TEC has an autotune feature for WOT and for cruisin. Plus you can have 3-4 maps on it without having to burn ROM's and keep changing chips out. I am going with a tec setup once I get my tranny situation fixed. Best damned standalone I've ever used. PERIOD.
