Default Timing belt

Hi im.new on this site got a question if anyone can help just snapped my timing belt on my 97 lude jdm h22a just wanna know if it is worth trying to.change the belt or not i wasnt going fast was at a red light started to go in first about 2500 rpm car died tried cranking couple times no goo pulled valve cover and saw belt snapped ive heard that u can get lucky and unlucky with bent valves but also heard that h22a r interference motors when in v tec and thats usually when u start bending valves and stuff i wasnt in v tec so wondering if its worth tossing a new belt at it thanks

do compression and leak tests first to see if theres any damage
