Default Crank Position Sensor

I have a 96 Civic Dx with a D16y7, a few days ago I was getting CEL, checked it and it was for P1336 and I think P0335. So I'm thinking the sensor is going out. But I found that the wire and sleeve had come loose and come into contact with the alternator belt. So my question is will soldering in some similar gauge wire suffice? Or will I need to change the sensor out? Changing out the sensor and harness I would think would be a pita since I have to pull the crank pulley, belts, etc.

Yes you can patch the wires using standard techniques.
