Default 2000 Accord oil change + engine bay question

My wife told me the service light was comgin on in her 2000 Accord sedan 4cyl 5 spd. She brought the car home and I got to changing the oil... could they have made this car any tougher to work on? Oil pan, easy to get at, oil filter... dang! Never realized how low this car is till I tried crawling under it, our older accords (90 coupe and 91 sedan) were much easier to work on. Anyone else notice this?

When putting the oil in, I noticed this nice flat spot on the driver's side of the engine bay. Is this a place for some option that my wife's car didn't come with? What do all of you who have that same car put there? Looks like an easy place to put an alarm, or even an accessory battery.

Where is the flat spot? Is it right over the left wheel fender? What trim is the car? What cruise control standard?

Haha, you are right about that, but I hardly ever raise the hood on that car. I'm sure there's people here that know what I'm talking about.

I know exactly what your talking about ive got it on my accord too.(2001 coupe 4cyl 5sp) I think its just space that the 6 cyl engine uses. Since we have a four its smaller thus taking up less space. It might be where the battery is or the airbox on a six. The airbox is on the right side of the engine opposed to the left like our cars.
Hope this helps..

Must be what it is, thanks. I just assumed more people had the same car and I was wondering what people used this wide open space for. If it were my car instead of my wife's I'd install a wet well with a pump and filter for keeping bait minnows alive.
