d15b7/y8 mini me smoking bad after sea foam 2 days and 50 miles later
Ok, so I've looked all over and now decided to come here and ask. I just put my y8 head onto a d15b7 bottom end. My y8 didn't smoke before it blew(rod knock). The d15b7 smoked a tiny bit when changing gears and I should've known better than to put that combo together while it was smoking. But it was barely smoking when i put it in. Well, long story short I thought I would run some seafoam to try to unstick the oil rings. Now after the seafoam(changed the oil a day later) it smokes like a freight train under acceleration and idle but NO smoke at all when downshifting, even when you downshift and the rpms go up high there's no smoke. Only under idle and acceleration(smokes when you're at cruising speed on the highway also) Like I said the car before did not smoke at idle and only smoked when shifting gears. Please don't grill me on putting a smoker in my car I had no idea it smoked at all. Can someone please tell me what I did to it. Maybe a possible way to get it to stop smoking like a freight train. I've already changed the oil with heavyweight oil and Lucas stabilizer to thicken the oil up. After sea foaming, I saw where sea foam ruined their engine.
Maybe I was too late(I hope not) Any help is appreciated, Thank you.

How do I go about doing a leak down test? What upsets me is that I thought the sea foam would fix it and it just made it waaaay worse. I'm hoping its something that can be replaced without taking the engine out again. When the Head that's on it was on the original d16y8 it didn't smoke one bit, therefore I know the valve stem seals were fine(unless the seafoam tore them up). I'm just stumped now its really upsetting me cause this is my daily driver. Seafoam will never be used again by me. At first, I had put some through the spark plug holes to try to unstick the oil rings, and that seemed to work fine. Then my dumb self-dropped in a little less than half a can into the vacuum for the brake booster. So anyways +eghatch9295 how would I go about doing the leak down test and what do I look for while performing it?
Is the test the same as a compression test? Please enlighten me, Thank you very much.

Marvel Mystery oil did a better job and breaking loose rings, yes I concur that should do a leak down test.
So you poured sea foam on top of the pistons to clean them and then poured half a can into a vacuum line to wash all your intake gunk right back into your engine, instead of just cleaning the intake manifold/ throttle body/ cylinder head by hand while the head was off? Got it, lol, good plan....
If you are "lucky" you just have a puddle of gunk in your engine that you need to burn off (basically just push into your exhaust, lol, hope you dont have a cat and o2 sensors....) and then you'll be right back to where you started before seaswagging your engine....

) I don't have a cat and my rear o2 doesn't even get read due to the p28 ecu I have in it. Just hoping it goes back to how it was before. It's acting like the oil rings are passing oil big time now. I was just looking at a set of pistons and rings. I'm used to working on chevy 350's. I've always worked on Hondas but have always had help when it comes to the internals. I don't talk to that person anymore so had to go about everything myself and like I said I was mistakenly in a hurry which will never be done again. I did look at the cylinder walls when the head was off and it did look very nice. Just couldn't tell the oil rings could've been worn or stuck. Thank you for the input.
