'92 Civic no spark...finally running!!
Yesterday, I took the ICM and coil to Autozone to be tested. They tested the ICM 10 times and it passed all 10 times. They simply did a primary and seconday resistance check on the coil and said the primary side was 0.1 ohms too high, but I was really weary of the coil being bad simply b/c of a 0.1 ohm difference. I mean, as said, they usually fail open or closed (broke or shorted to ground.) So, then I was about out of options. So, the TDC/CKP/CYP sensors tested ok and I knew the problem wasn't in the distributor. So, I just scrubbed the connections with some steel wool to get rid of the corrosion, sprayed some WD-40 on them and reconnected everything. I tested the main relay this morning and it was fine and so I put everything back together, resolved to trace the charging and starting system down later. I decided to give it a crank just to see what happened and it fired right up. It must have just been some corroded connections - that's about the best I can figure. It runs good (never drove a Civic, but man that little thing has some pretty good power.) It has the 1.5L 16-valve non-VTEC 102hp engine. Just flooring the gas pedal in 1st gear caused me to peel out. I was a little shocked, to be honest.
