Rough idle/Yes I know this has been covered before
Hi- I know the seventh generation civic rough idle has been covered before. However, it never seems like there is an exact answer if the typical suggestions do not help correct the issue----please any help would be great:
I have a 2005 honda civic LX with 125,000 miles. It has a rough idle issue----the car's resting idle when cold started is near 2000, then when warmed smoothly falls to around 800-1000 rpm or so, the engine temp is perfect, everything in it works, it drives fine/runs great with smooth resting idle and acceleration (even gets 40 mpg on the highway) and has no check engine lights or stored codes. The issue is similar to previous threads: idles fine, except with A/C on, then the idle drops 500-750 rpm or so and the engine shakes/runs rough and it makes noise from vibrating exhaust parts that is suppressed with tension on the exhaust pipe (secondary noise only from the vibration/rough idle). The rough idle goes away with pushing on gas pedal to increase rpm to near 1000 or turning the A/C off, and improves but does not go away if car is put in neutral or park and A/C is left on.
The idle issue was before and after: CEL with codes 0497 and 1457 were present but were corrected and have not appeared again after replacement of evaporative cansiter/Vapor Canister Shutoff Valve/new gas cap; new spark plugs, air filter, oil change(s), head gasket replacement with coolant change (probably unrelated but it happened)--so no air in the coolant system known, timing belt and water pump replacement (maintenance for mileage/no other issues), throttle body and IACV cleaning (they looked quite clean after it was done), added sea foam to gas tank three times, inspection for vacuum leaks was negative by two separate mechanics, inspection of motor mounts was negative as well.
I know this has been discussed many times before but I am just wondering what to do now about the rough idle? And a followup question---- this was asked at least once before on a thread but it didn't look like it was answered...is there anyway to just increase the overall idle (at rest it would be 1250-1500 or so, then with A/C it would be near 1000 and the issues would go away)? Thank you!
