How does one control engine coolant temperatures manually?
Hi how do I wire in the Thermo's so I can control when they come on? As in which colour wires do I chase etc. My DC5 is used for Hill Climbs, Time Attack and Sprint days. It makes best power at 82 degree's but the thermo's kick in too late at 92. So I want to drag the heat out at a lower temp.
A thermostat is not controlled electrically. If you want to setup a system where you can control the flow of coolant manually; you'd need to wire a valve, remove your thermostat from the housing, then setup a relay to trigger off of the load from your coolant temperature sensor somehow that would then open/close the valve.
It's really cold here. What I've done is to fabricate some guides to direct warm air to the front wheel arches to assist warming the tyres. I know some of you will say do more burn outs but it's not enough in the time and space we have in the Line Up to the Start. So anything else I can do is simply a bonus. Am running an Orange real time tyre temp / psi system so I can monitor temps. With my last car I removed the AC Compressor yet retained the electrics and just switched the pretend AC on. The previous owner of my Type R removed the Heater internals so hence needing to wire in a switch
