Icon5 How to test a radiator fan switch?

Hey team,

When I brought my 1993 Civic EX I noticed the fan was always on. I checked and found the plug had been removed and a "short" had been placed across the plug so I assumed the switch had gone bad. I finally got around to replacing the switch but the now the fan won't turn on. The coolant actually started boiling so I know it got hot enough!!! Is there a way to test the switch? I guess put it into some boiling water to see if the switch closes?
Are there any known reasons why the switch won't operate?

This is the switch I brought, it's a 37760-P00-004
Amazon Amazon

Thanks
Paul

Other than it being a cheap knockoff part? The real one is about $30.

If someone jammed a jumper into the holes in the plug, it may have bent the socket pins so they don't make contact with the switch. So you may need to replace the plug also. It is the same as all the other 2 wire round plugs on the various sensors.

Switch should close at 160 F. This can be tested in hot water.

Good point, I'll check that out and replace if it looks dodgy.
Thanks.
