Default 2005 Civic Dx Oil Leak

My 05 Dx Civic coupe is leaking oil in the oil pump crank seal area. I'm sure it's the seal in the oil pump but I'm trying to research and I see a post talking about it's easy to mess that seal up when you put a new one and that it's better to replace the whole oil pump. Not too sure of that. Just wanna get some insight before I make an order. ( https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-...-seal-2886424/ )

If you follow the service guide, the seal is easy. But a pump swap is less prone to messing up, if it is the pump. You're going to pay a lot more for a pump though

Yea looking at about 7$ for the seal and about 285$ for the pump assembly. ( hondapartsunlimited.com ) I always try to buy OEM. Any personal recommendations from past experiences from anyone on oil pump or oil pump seal that is. I mean if it's done right it shouldn't be a problem. But is it that difficult to do it right?

I guess what I'm getting at is if anyone could say its worth a try to replace the seal itself? Or should I just replace the whole pump.

you only need to replace the seals and orings

you can normally just get a front seal kit

replacing the entire pump is not necessary

I know but I read that it's difficult to get the seal placed in position right. I'll get the kit/seal and post how it goes.
I've where you can get the seal by itself on ( https://www.hondapartsunlimited.com/...-strainer-scat )
