Icon5 Cruise Control

Hey Team,

I have a 1993 Civic EX coupe. When I press the CC button to the left of the steering wheel the green light illuminates as I expect it to. However nothing else appears to work. From what I understand when I press the Set button the CC light in the instrument is supposed to light up (correct?) and the car will maintain speed.
What tests can I do to track the issue? I've tried changing out the actuator module under the hood with no change but I'm not 100% certain its a good unit either (got it from a salvage yard). The fuse box cover is missing under the dash so I'm not sure which fuse to check. The speedo works correctly so I'm assuming it's not the speed sensor.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Paul

Check the lower clutch pedal pad and switch to make sure both are present, plugged in and functioning. A missing clutch pad exhibits symptoms as you have described.

Yes there are switches on the clutch and brake pedals which will drop out the cruise if either pedal is pressed. They will also prevent the system from engaging (light in the cluster comes on when you press steering wheel button) if not satisfied that the pedals are up.

Also the circuit to the buttons on the steering wheel goes through the clock spring, same as the air bag and horn circuits. Does the horn work? Is the SRS trouble light staying off?

There's an excellent troubleshooting process in the Helms service manual. Google is your friend to find it!

I cut the wires going to my washer fluid reservoir and mine quit working as the washer fluid pump shares a ground with the cruise control servo. Who knew? Reattached the ground wires and BAM! Got cruise again.

EDIT: Whoops, I thought this said 1998 instead of 1993. My car is a 2000. But the principle of checking grounds still applies.
