Default Heater Core Replacement

anyone ever replace their heater core? My car is throwing NO heat at all and this is canada we are talking about. heat is WAY more important than any A/C.
This is a CRX btw.

How long can i expect to spend on this job? It looks like a big one by the looks of the manual.

It is 10 degree's bellow 0 celcius. I AM FREEZING TO DEATH.

Make damn sure that your heater core is the problem before you tackle this job! The dash has to come out. Check your heater control valve-it's an inline valve near the firewall on the engine side. With the car warmed up to normal operating temperature, feel both sides of the valve. The hoses should be warm on both sides with the valve open. Have someone move the temperature control lever while you watch the valve: does the cable move the valve? The only time I have ever had to replace heater cores (twice) was due to leaking. good luck.

One of the guys at the shop said that for a 90 Civic, the Heater Core job takes roughly around 6 hours..

I would check to make sure that the heater valve to the coolant line is open.

have someone adjust the hot/cold control on the dash and look at the firewall towards the center you will see 2 coolant lines going into the firewall. look to see if they are opening or closing.

I would suggest taking it to a shop or seeing if water will flow thru the heater core inside a shop so you won't freeze outside. I'm not sure of weather over there. I hope it helps though

good luck
