Default Tranny starting to grinding in 3rd with only 800 miles on rebuild

Ok. Here is the deal.
I have a 99 ITR motor and tranny in my 92 CX hatch. The tranny started to grind in 3rd after 3000-4000 miles after the install. I had the transmission rebuilt by a friend who works as a mechanic at Honda, so I know it was rebuilt correctly. I had a new 3rd gear, new synchros for third and forth, and all new bearings installed. Tranny worked great when the work was completed. I put about 800-1000 miles on the rebuilt transmission then it started to grind in 3rd again. Any suggestions on what could be causing this reoccurring problem? I have heard that the linkage for a jdm itr is longer then the gsr linkage and might be causing the problem. I have not physically measured the two yet. The car has just been sitting in the garage until I figure out what I want to do. Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions?

I agree, check the tranny fluid and always use Honda Genuine MTF.

Or stop beating the **** out of it. Is this from daily driving or is it from many track days? What kind of tires are you running at the track and on the street ? slicks ?

Its a daily driver when its not broken. I had some 555r Nitto Drag Radials on the front, but sold those wheels and tires. Ordered some Yokahama AVS ES100s on it. Never had slicks on it before. I'm really not that hard to the car.

Anybody have any other advice?
