Been a while since I posted on HT. I've got a 2006 CR-V 5 Speed. I recently picked up a 2007 TSX 6-Speed gearbox for cheap.

My intent was to swap the 6th gear into my CR-V, which as been done before successfully, and I have no concerns doing this. But since I've got the whole TSX gear box I'm considering swapping the entire CRV gear set onto the TSX main & counter shafts, and using the TSX differential (if it fits in the CRV case). I really like the idea of the TSX 4.764 final vs the CRV 5.062. That would get be down to 3100 RPM in 6th at 80MPH. I want to keep my 4WD which is why I'm considering the Frankenstein approach.

I assume that this can be done as long as end play tolerances are observed, and correct shims used (since I'm using my CR-V case I'll be observing CR-V tolerances).

Has anyone done this? Does anyone have empirical insight into if this will work or not? (i.e. the diff wont fit or some other crucial discrepancy) I tried Googling this, and found very little. If someone has a link or insight into this send it my way.

Swapping the 3-6 gears over into your CR-V transmission should be no problem. I don't think you can swap the diff/final drive from a 2WD transmission into the 4WD transmission... there is an extra gear on the differential on the latter that drives the transfer case. Aquafina may have an answer for you about 4WD final drive options...
