I bought this SUV a week ago and hasn't leaked oil at all until today there was a little pool of oil. I did take a long drive today though. I looked under and saw where the oil drip was coming from and noticed a missing bolt. I'm assuming this must be the cause. Does anyone know what size bolt so I can go to autozone and get a replacement?
Well it looks like you are missing the dust/inspection cover that goes there, there is a small formed steel cover that bolts in place there so the torque converter isn't exposed. It uses the hole in the pan you are referring too as well as the threaded hole in the transmission case, also in the picture. Putting a bolt in that hole won't stop your oil leak since that bolt (when properly installed) doesn't plug anything up. More than likely your pan is leaking from that area or possibly your rear main seal, which is somewhat of a common issue with the v6 j series engines and having a clogged PCV doesn't help the issue. My 05 Acura TL leaks in the same area and never shows a drop on the dip stick.
The bolt should be a M6, not sure on the length though, but they are pretty short.
