Hey, this is my first post, so sorry if it's already talked to death but I just didn't find it.
Wondering if anyone has tips for cleaning these metal parts of my engine? I've detailed all the rubber and plastic parts already. I'd like to avoid removing any parts to work on them outside the car (not that technically inclined) unless its a quick pull out part (ie. like removing battery or air intake covers). Thanks!
Unfortunately the rust would have to be scraped or etched off. I have yet to find a chemical that works as good as a metal brush on a drill. As far as the block, those oxidation sport are about in the same boat. I've had good luck with engine greasers, but it'll never take the spots out fully.
For future reference, posts like this should be made in Honda and Acura appearance and cosmetics forum > detailing (being new, you don't have access to post there until 5 days have passed and you've made some more posts.)

The easiest way would be replace that shield from dealer I am a big fan of clean engine and engine bay the best item that you could use to clean and shine your engine at the same time is Armor all tire shine which not only cleans but protects rubber metals as well. make sure wipe of any excess dirt and grease off your engine and than spray on it leave it for about 15 to 20 minutes than you can wipe off with a towel or rag use it again if necessary you will be amazed with the results. I did replace that shield when I put a brand new catalytic converter in my 2001 civic I did oem so I replace those heat shield and that was about 5 to 6 years ago and if you see that shield now you will think I just replaced it no rust at all. Hope this helps.
