Default 97 civic ek hatch not starting issue..

Ok so here's the story.. so I've decided to do the power window conversion on my hatch. Everything went well and worked fine.. I did the plug and play version where I replaced the whole floor harness and everything instead of running new wires and such. Put everything back together and tested and windows work fine. Before the conversion, I was already having issues with the car having issues starting when the fuel was low.. so I always kept the car with enough gas in it to not have that issue. I always thought it was a fuel pump issue.. now as you know, when I changed out the floor harness, it also goes to the fuel pump.. simple easy plug and play same connections.. no big deal.. after everything was installed and I go and plug the battery in, I crank up the car. It starts fine and runs for 5 mins and sputters off.. I'm like "WTF???" Tried starting the car again and it was not having it. And I noticed all the gauges working except the gas gauge and it was way under empty like it was shut off.. so I'm thinking it may be an issue with the wiring to the fuel pump go back into the back seats and take it apart to check the wires.. unplug and check them and make sure no broken wires or such.. plug back in.. noticed the gas gauge goes back up.. weird.. started the car and it starts right up but for some reason it was idling kinda low.. like it's not getting enough gas.. fast forward two days, the car ran fine till this morning when I was gonna head to work and tried startin the car again and it did the same thing. Gas gauge was empty and it wouldn't start.. so at this point I'm thinking it may be my fuel pump going out.. I jus want to get a second opinion on this.. I eventually got the car started again but I jus want to make sure that it's a fuel pump issue.. let me know what u guys think.. I'm probably gonna change out the pump sooner or later anyways but jus wanted to see if any of you had a similar issue before..

Check the gas tank ground under the back seat.

If you disconnect the battery or otherwise cut power to the ECU on an OBDII, it will idle poorly for a while on the next start until the memory is recalibrated.
