Default D series oil pan baffle?

Those of you that track/race your cars equipped with D16 engines, do you guys run a oil pan baffle and if so which one? I need to replace oil pan gasket soon, so I was thinking to throw in a baffle while at it, but I can't seem to find anyone that makes them for these engines.

I don't run a D16, but from all the pictures I've seen it looks like they are baffled pretty well stock. Much better than the B-series engines.

I did come across these though: https://www.crank-scrapers.com/Honda..._D-SERIES.html

One of those should help to get oil back to the pan. I may consider dropping one in next time I have the oil pan off.

That would definitely be nice if true.

I'll have to check it out.

Thanks

If your existing pan looks like this Dseries pan then there's no room to install any aftermarket baffles without cutting out the stock baffle.

Damn now that you pointed that out...

Oh well, I guess the B-series swap might just happen sooner than expected.

Just blew my second D16Y8, completely stock internals, this one on the track, due to spun rod bearing. Can't say it was due to lack of oil in the pickup as the car was checked/topped up before each session, but just a warning if you have a Y series bottom end, consider swapping in a Z or A bottom end instead as they handle higher RPM/track use much better.

I'll chime in. Been running a Z6 for 13 years now, and have never had oil starvation or pressure drops with the stock pan. And that's running half the NASCAR oval at Auto Club Speedway (which is banked, so it helps) and the Turn 8/9 sequence at Willow Springs, which only has a little camber going through Turn 9.

Just because it's never been an issue for me, doesn't mean it's not possible on other tracks around the country, but FWIW, it doesn't seem to be an problem on my car.

I did HPDE with 200 TW through slicks at The Glen, New York Safety Track, NJMP Thunder and Lightning, and Poopono Raceway without a baffle. This was a D15B7.

When putting a B Series in my car, I asked some of the local Honda Challenge Heads what they thought about running a baffle and the majority of them did it on a B.

I bought a cheap eBay one and the metal quality was pretty decent per my welder.

I wouldn't worry about it...fill it a little higher-- that's what I did.

Thanks everyone. This car will be getting a B series once the D16 goes out, but I figured no need to rush and blow it up just yet.
