Back in about February I had the oil pressure switch replaced,aftermarket, leaking. A couple days ago I noticed that when the engine is fully warmed up, after about 6-7 miles, the oil pressure light will flicker at idle. But the warm idle is rough and about 600 - 700 rpm. Above that the light is out. A low rough idle is the only time I see it. Question is do I go after the idle issue first or the oil pressure light ? Thoughts?

 

Talked with my usual mechanic. He said it could also be that the engine is tired and the pump can't keep up with the wear in the bearings and such. It does have 200,000 miles. But why only when it's warm? Thoughts?

 

best thing to do is to have a mechanic hook up a gauge and see if pressure really is bad
