99 Honda CR-V timing bay issues/ rubber shavings
Hello, about two days ago I was riding on the expressway when I heard a pop and some grinding noises, the engine totally cut off but thankfully due to the speed/ momentum, I was able to pull safely to the side of the road. Fast forward a day, the CR-V is back at my place and I removed the valve cover for further inspection. The timing belt seems to be in one piece but I found a bunch or rubber/plastic shaving material all around the cam sprockets and inner valve cover. The sprockets do look out of alignment from what I've seen .Does anyone knows where does this may be coming from? I guess I'll eventually dig deeper into the engine but I'd like to know what to expect. Thanks for any replies.

A quick update, it was the timing belt. It didn't snapped but many teeth failed and it was all chewed up. Installed a new one and thankfully everything seems to be ok so this CR-V lives another day.
