Default 03 EP3 Steering (EPS)

So this is the first car I've ever owned. And I have done side jobs and helped friend out with repairs on the older model Civics and Accords. So with the EP3, I'm like super new to the electric power steering. It makes a noise whenever i take turns and I've done some research on it already, with me trying not to spend so much on it by replacing the whole rack and pinion, I found an article on the slider guide? Any tips on which I should go for? To replace the whole rack or just replace the slider guide, that is my question.

The racks are hard to find in junkyards or used. I would rebuild what you have. Also, there is a special sub-forum for EP3 and DC5, this might be more at home there.

Well I figured it would be been hard to find one, I can also pick up a remanufactured one from NAPA since I work at one. But I know that we usually have some problems with certain remand parts. Guess that means I should just look into the dealership for the part? Also, would there be a way to move my post to that sub-forum or should I just copy and paste in there? Lol.

Looks like someone (moderator) moved the post for you (toyo? o_O) Do NOT go to the dealer for this. Likely unavailable for $600+. If you can get a good one for under $200, then it might be worth it, but there's still a lot of work to be done in changing the steering racks in these cars

Well I know I can install it but I'm also gonna take it to our local Goodyear for the realignment and everything else. So it' gonna range from a $200-$400 job.

Go on Youtube and search for a MotoIQ video detailing what they did for their suspension/steering rack. The SHG slider is worth looking into, especially if you are already going to be messing with the rack.
