Hey guys, new around here. I just bought a 98 civic coupe swapped with a d16z6 vtech motor. The whole car needs a bit of help here and there for the most part she drives awesome and is really clean.
However, I just need no codes to pass inspection. I ran her to autozone for the free reading, and the first time it didn’t work. No fuse in the interior light spot, fishy. My CEL is not on, but it’s also a CRV cluster. I think he intentionally messed with the CEL. I put a fuse where it belongs, bam interior lights and obd reads. Here’s what I got for codes, the car starts and drives absolutely fine, so I’m not sure where to start whatsoever. What would be your suggestion? All the low input and circuit **** makes me think wire harness needs help? Any help is much appreciated.
I see, some of the problems like the speed sensor I know what the cause is. What would I have to do to get rid of the codes for the items listed that a d16z6 doesn’t have? New obd?
ckf can be bypassed, google that one. you cannot add knock to the z6, and there is no reliable bypass i am aware of. running an obd1 ecu would make the obd port in your car inoperable, depending on where you live, that is an automatic fail for emissions.
They hacked the wire to the speed sensor, which is why it’s not working I believe. I will take a look at the bypass.
So if the OBD becomes inoperable with a new ECU to match engine, could you change both ECU and OBD? I seen some kind of adapters online, I’m unsure if they’d be any use to me.
My my concern lies with the other codes I won’t be able to get rid of, if I can’t get rid of them she won’t get inspected D:
Also NH law is 20 years emissions don’t matter. I just made it ahaha, so I need a way to fix all these other codes. With an adapter and new ECU for a 95 will I be all set? Then I will obviously have to tackle speed sensor and electrical load.

Since it's a 1998 car, they're going to plug in an OBDII scanner, thus it has to be running an OBDII system. You cannot install an OBD1 ECU because an OBDII scanner cannot link to it.
And that means you need the CKF and knock to be working.
there is no obd-1 scanner. i would call, play dumb and ask what the procedure is if your obd port is non functional. maybe, theyll let you tailpipe test it.... BUT remember that they are harder to pass than the code reader test, for obvious reasons.
nothing that will keep that obd scan port working. you need to ask if tailpipe testing is an option, if it is, then you can use an obd-1 ecu and jumper harness. if not, you'll have to try that ridiculous piezo transducer bypass thing for knock.
