Cel came on code p1259 2000 accord
Hello everyone I recently purchased a 2000 Honda accord four cylinder 2.3 vtech auto trans I took it on the freeway for the first time and when I got to around 50 or 60 mph the CEl came on and the car wouldn't accelerate it would just hit the limiter when I gave it gas I got home and pulled the codes an that's when I got the p1259 what's going on? Please help!
Is H-T eating posts again?
Anthony, its a code for VTEC malfunction. It could be as simple as low oil level in the sump(causing low oil pressure) or some electrical or mechanical issue with the VTEC system.
Check the connectors to the pressure switch and solenoid are clean and tight, check the wiring is undamaged, verify the solenoid or switch are not leaking. A clogged VTEC solenoid filter may also cause an issue, low or no oil feed will cause no VTEC operation and the engine will just choke without the highlift operation of the cam.
