Possibly buying a 2001 Honda Prelude
Hey guys, so i have recently been looking for either a civic, accord or prelude to buy. I have been narrowing my search to manual cars because i have owned mostly manual my entire life. Tomorrow im going to look at a 2001 Honda Prelude (auto, unfortunately) with 168k miles on it. Asking price is 1500 and of course ill try and get him down a couple hundred if possible. But from my friends that know a bit about cars i have gotten mixed reviews. A friend of mine told me the b22 engine (which i believe is the engine in the 2001 prelude) is not a great engine. But i want to get some feedback from more people that have owned a prelude or a honda with this specific engine in it. I would love to get some help with what would be the best to get and why. Thanks in advance guys!!
The engines and transmissions have problems. And the whole immobilizer system is bad and retardedly expensive if you don't have the learning key. I would not recommend a prelude to any friend.
If you buy a manual, I'd steer clear of models with ATTS. That box is in the way when you try do work, and if it still works is completely unnecessary for 99.9 percent of the driving these cars are doing.
if you're in the LA area I'm selling my 5th gen for 2500. its automatic sport shift though, 153,xxx. no check engine light, passed smog and everything is good just needs cosmetic work done.
