ISB/Throwout Bearing/Grinding sound?
Hey folks,
Got a 98' Integra GS, all stock. Bought the car recently and have been trying to diagnose this issue for the past weeks. I feel like I've pinpointed it down to the transmission. Seems like there's issues that are similar to this, but just wanted some 2nd opinions before I went on and threw more money into a hole/wasted more time.
So when I drive, from 1st-2nd-3rd, there's this screeching/grinding sound coming from the passenger side. Initially, I thought it was the pads/rotors because I saw a scratch/marking on the inner part of the rotor. I got them replaced, and nope, sound is still there. Now last night, I finally noticed that the sound only happens in 1st/2nd/3rd, no matter what speed. However, once I throw it in 4th-5th, it's gone. If I'm rolling in 1-2-3 and clutch in, the sound goes away. I read that it may be the input shaft bearing or the throwout bearing. But I noticed if those are bad, they make a sound during idle, mine doesn't make a sound at idle.
I'll probably replace both of them anyway, but is there anything else I should look to replacing while it's torn apart?
Any input is great, thanks

the input shaft is spinning at idle when the clutch pedal is out so the fact that it goes away when you press the clutch would point to the input shaft bearing however since it's not making any noise at idle would conclude it's a bearing on one of the shafts and not the input shaft bearing
at any rate, I can't really see it being anything outside of the tranny, you will need to pull the tranny and pop it open and disassemble it and look for any rough bearings
