Default TEH FUNZ P0341

Hi Guys,

Been a while...

Current find: 2002 RSX with 178k on it. Person was throwing it away so I got it for real cheap. Had two codes upon pick up: P1259 (VTEC Failure) and P0341 (CMP and CKP incorrect phase detected)

Oil in it was nasty, changed it right away. Reset the codes, P1259 went away, P0341 persists.

Took it to my local mechanic, he replaced the CMP sensor and one other sensor (he didn't say what it was), nothing changed. I removed and cleaned that oil filter in the front (next to PS pump), and the VVT actuator, nothing. Replaced the VVT with a reman. one, nothing. Unplugged the VVT to see how the car would drive with it unplugged, nothing. Plugged it back in, nothing.

Car has driven the same since I got it, still gets plenty of power, doesn't choke and die, still gets ~25-26 mixed driving MPG. I've put about 1k on it.

Before I dig into the timing chain, any other ideas? Should I rip off the VTEC and clean it?

Thanks!
