High Rev then CEL
93 Civic
D16Z6 freshly rebuilt
Its my daily driver and it runs great, but when I rev it hard like past 5800 (vtec engaging) check engine light comes on. Car still runs fine but when I jump it I get the IACV and vtec codes. I shut the car off, and the CEL disappears...Anyone got a clue???
All my wires are connected correctly, but the vtec code is the one for the solenoid.

Are you sure the VTEC is kicking in properly? With SOHC's, it may be a bit harder to distinguish. You probably need a new VTEC oil pressure sensor.
My friends VTEC would kick in, but it wouldnt "pull" properly. It would also throw a VTEC sensor CEL. A new Oil pressure sensor solved the problem and the VTEC kicked in like it was supposed to.

Oil is super high. I will try to clean the screen first, then if it still does it, I will get another one. I have a spare one sitting around.

How did this turn out or has it been resolved? I have the exact same issue. Filter is new (old one was actually good), Wiring is all good and has continuity and no shorts to ground, I have 2 ecu's JDM and USDM both are awesome, both throw the same vtec code. Oil level is cool, Everything in the car works (COMPLETELY) down to the trunk light. No other CEL code's
