2004 Honda Civic Hybrid w/ tranny trouble
So, I picked up a decent car the other day (Honda Civic Hybrid) that I knew needed transmission work. Upon first glance, I noticed the price and availability of the parts needed were at acceptable limits for me, however, I made the mistake of viewing the manual version instead of the automatic version like the one I just bought. First, I had absolutely no idea there could be such a wide difference in costs between an auto and manual transmission in these civics. Second, I'm now trying to research the difference(s) between Federal and California emissions standards as it relates specifically to my model of vehicle's transmission. Next, the price and availability of each transmission are comparable.
I have a question about these parts as they relate to the emissions standards previously mentioned. Is there a physical difference in the transmission that would prohibit the use of one version over the other? I have a federal emission sticker but maybe a California standard transmission shows up more conveniently. What would allow/prevent me from using this part? Also, am I missing any sites that may have these parts under way 1000 bucks?
Thanks for taking your time to read all this.

You could punch in the California and other model into an online Honda store and compare part numbers. I wouldn’t think they are any different but who knows.
There are a bunch of civic hybrids dismantling here, Used Auto Parts
good luck

Since its a Hybrid, you may have a CVT transmission. That would easily make the transmission harder to find and more costly. As for using a non-Hybrid, traditional automatic... I'm not sure as to what all wiring you would need, and subsequent ECU to match the system for it to function normally.
