Default Timing Chain replacement

I have a 2014 CRV with 124,000 miles. I have always watched the oil minder and had it changed between 80-90%. Now i had to spend $1993 to get it fixed. The repair shop blamed it on long oil changes but i follow the recommendations. what the heck? Any guidance would be great. I'm very disappointed in this car, its not what i thought i would get buying a Honda (first Honda).

It doesn't sound like anything you did. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discus...24169_ds781393
