Icon5 PW:JDM -Power Chamber Intake cause stalling?

(2012 civic coupe LX)
I put on the pw:jdm carbon power chamber intake on and was pretty happy with it, kind of pricey but it looks pretty bad ***. My issue is when in stop and go traffic, i lightly tap the throttle to move up and rpms jump up and fall rapidly. it feels like its sputtering out and has shut off the engine 2 times. This intake is the only mod on the engine (r18). I put the stock air box back on and the problem no longer occurs.
Any ideas how i could run this intake and avoid the issue???

MAF sensor was probably not registering the proper airflow through the intake and the engine was starved of air supply at idle. Was the new filter oiled when installed? Is the airflow being restricted by anything inside the chamber?

Air velocity is altered in your PWJDM intake... and thus, the MAF calibration is inaccurate. MAF calibration is predicated on intake tube cross-section area... and thus, if you increase or decrease intake tube diameter, you change the velocity of the air passing through it. MAF calibration assumes a specific velocity. A tune by a qualified tuner can fix your problem.

The filter was not pre oiled, so I did pull it myself and put the minimum needed.

as for the tuner mentioned, can you go into more detail, are you talking about a hondata type of device?

Yes, but you have to get the ECM tuned to deal with the changed variables in the air/fuel map. This would have to be specified when applying to Hondata when you send the ECM to them for the reflash. The exact parts installed onto the engine ( all of your aftermarket goodies and such) are required for them to set the parameters of your performance curve.

I wouldn't do a standard "reflash" from Hondata. There is a product called a "dealer reflash" which basically begins as the "reflash" tunes offered by Hondata, however, they can be altered like a conventional tune without you purchasing a FlashPro. They can be installed with no down time to the car like a "reflash" requires and are only slightly more expensive. I think the price is $350 instead of $295 plus shipping... and then of course dyno time if you want it optimized for your application. Check the Hondata website for the closest dealer near you to get this.
