What times should a H22 civic run?
My friend has a '98 Civic hatchback and has been flapping his lips for a couple of months about putting a 195 HP H22 motor in his Civic. I was wondering what kind of times/MPH is he going to run in 1/4 and 1/8. He is trying to say he will be taking C5 vettes
with just dropping in this setup. I wanted to know if anyone has this done and how it runs simply dropping in the stock H22. I have a modded Trans Am and want to put him in his place.

Ive seen that setup in plenty of 92-95's civic which are 200 pounds lighter than 98 in general, the best Ive seen is a 13.7 on street tyres. Ive heard of a guy doin a 13.4 with bolt ons and slicks. You should kill him if you got an LS1, itd be close against an LT1 though.
this will give you an idea.... http://www.darksol.com/swaps.asp
My H22 civic ran a 13.9 at 99 with 13 inch street tires and no Tach. My friends ran a 13.7 at 101 on street tires and a 13.4 at 104 on 24.5 inch slicks. Only mods to both of these cars were header, exhaust, and suspension.
I've got an LT1, Stage 3 carbon clutch, few mods, but will soon have a set of gears, headers, maybe Ram-Air so I'm not too worried, he said he is getting the 195HP H22, which according to the link mitsuman gave, I should have him stock. Just wondering, because he is always the exaggerating type
and was trying to say he'll be pulling on C5 vette's, and I wanted some opinions of some guys who might actually know what they are talking about. Thanks a lot!

My friend had an H22 in his heavy *** 97 coupe and he munched on an LT1 on the street. You should probably be able to take him but don't underestimate the Honda.
I have heard of high 12 with bolt-ons but thats usually in a lighter car. He could run 13.5-14.5...you just never know.

on of my friend's had Steph papadakis drop in (back in 96) a type S H22 in his 96 EK h/b. with just an intake exhaust and on slicks. that thing did 13.0 at the high elevation of Palmdale, CA.
didnt even have an upgraded header on it.

my old car h22a jdm powered 1994 civic CX hatch
laid down a 13.6 with 1.9 60' all i had was open filter, 2.5" exhaust, JUN flywheel and ACT clutch, this was on small slicks
no weight reduction
at 3000 feet ABOVE sea level
i was beating mustang svt cobras and many vettes at the track, if i would of had a good intake, a header, and lost some weight, some bigger slicks(and practice on them, it was my first time using) i think i could of easily pulled a lower 13 at my sea level

So if you guys had to bet on this race, who would you put the money on? I have Stage 3 carbon clutch, intake, cat-back, tb foil, alum drvshaft and by the time he has the engine in his car and his license back
I should at least have underdrive pulley, and either 3.73 gears or long-tube headers which should put me low 13's - upper 12's easily.

On street tires.............TA should win......at the strip it could go either way depending on his skills.
Mid to low 13's should be very easy for an H22 civic regardless of year as long as he uses at least drag radials to hook up.
F-Body guys ask me this all the time..........with fwd honda's the driver is the #1 mod to the car......big ET difference from a 1.9 60 vs 2.6 60'
Run him and find out........FYI most H22 guys end up on juice....so 110 shot could easily be hiding in there.....all bets are off at that point for you.

That 195 hp is not 195 hp to the wheels. He will most likely run mid 13's. C-5's run low low low 12's. Not quite!?!
Man.....I am tellin' ya.....as the proud owner of an H22/hatchback I will say this with honesty. The h22 still cant touch an LS1. I did beat the crap out of a 4.6 mustang and hung with some built 5.0's......but I seriously dont see how everyone thinks there so "fast" cuz mine sure doesnt feel it.
Of course I have only been to the track once (and it was on 17's) so I didnt do so well. And my car is running off an obd2 P13. So who knows with OBD1
But I am saying that stock H22/civic will barely get 13's. Corvettes aint gotta worry about nothin'

Maybe with you driving
The C5 vettes at my local track run similar or SLOWER times than what I have run.....but I am not even at 100% power with my current ecu......an H22 civic would have equal performance to my setup.....13.30's to 13.60's......."barely" = stunna behind the wheels on 13" street tires
lmfao

are you on drugs?... lets see the new viper srt-10 did a 12.1 or a 12.2.... when you say low low low 12's that means around 12.2 ...considering that....i never knew the c5 was faster than its big brother the z06 which runs around 12.5, the new svt mustang and could hang with the new viper srt10

no, no they don't.

the fastest ive seen a stock z06 run is 12.42
heh..yeah, true that.
No STOCK C5 (z06 aside) can touch 'low low low' 12's.
the z06 on the other hand..on some slicks...yeah. I've seen 12.4's on street tires and good driving with the '03s.
and about an h22/Civic not being able to touch an LS1....stock LS1, yes it certainly can. I don't consider 13.3's, even many 13 flats from a variety of different h22/hatchs 'barely' getting 13's.
Now run a modded LS1 (which we all know most of them are!) and, unfortunately, it's a whole different ball game
