I have a B20vtec and at idle i can hear a muffled sound through the intake when I rev it.when I remove the intake and rev it I don’t noticed it.i am gettin jerking,hesitating while driving,has trouble reaching redline,no power.new cap,rotor,plugs,wires,check valve lash,oil is good.i brought it in for an alignment at a shop while it was snowing and only noticed once it snow cleared.

 

timing on cams and crank is fine? it sounds like timing belt slip over

Distributor problem... weak coil or bad ICM.

 

 

 

 

 

I feel like I had the same noise at one time and it was the distributor going bad, maybe just the cap I cannot recall.

 

 

Yes, I said the hell with it and just ordered a new one. But that was me, I didn't feel like properly diagnosing the entire inside of it.

 

Before you go throwing money at new parts you might consider looking for vacuum leaks.

Oh lol my bad. Yes it did, but that was just my specific example.

My advice is to diagnose it properly before buying a new distributor, I was just lazy and gave it a shot. Crap shoot was in my favor that time.
