engine stalls when I am driving
recently, my honda civic 1988 is experiencing the following: the engine stalls when i am driving. When stalling, the engine light, battery light, and fuel light are all on, but engine light is on first. It happens when I drive the car for 2-3 miles. It started perfect, but all of the sudden, engine stall happened. I have changed to new PGM-FI main relay, it does not solve the problem.
Someone pull out a spark, it presented oil on the spark surface. But that seems does not cause THIS problem, because the oil has been there for a while. (old car)
After 20-30 minutes later, the engine can be started again without any problem. But not 10 min, not 15 min, sometimes not even 20 min. Have to be long enough for make the engine restart again. And the engine stall can happen again anytime. No idea when, but will.
May I get your advise of how to check the loosing distributor wire?

I will assume you purchased a new relay and not a used one. For this to happen, you would need to lose ALL of the engine ignition or ALL of the fuel. So, I would be looking in those areas. Check/replace distributor iginiter or Coil. Check fuel pump to make sure working.
Thank you, guys.
When I applied the new Fuel Injector (FI) main relay to the car, it did not solve the problem. I returned it. So right now, it is the original FI main relay.
To avoid wasting money on un-necessary parts, I am going to bring the car to the autozone store to get the engine code. I will report to your guys when it is done.
I love my Honda civic, I purchased it 30 years ago, I also purchase entire set of manual to try to take care of it. I understand the circuit diagram, but do not understand the mechanical part of the car. With this old good car, I would like to spend reasonable money to fix it, if it can be fixed.
Thank you for your help.
