Transmission Range Sensor
A few days ago we replaced the EGR valve in my 2001 Honda Accord (V6). Easy enough.
I took it to the auto parts store to get them to turn the warning light off and when they did they discovered another error code.
The code is P0705 -- defective Transmission Range Sensor.
Internal is more difficult to change and that, from what I can tell online, is what I have.
So is this defective sensor possibly the reason I hear a pretty good clunk sometimes the first time I put the car into gear in a day? (After that, it is fine. Just that first pulling out of the driveway when I put it in reverse I hear a clunk and then I put it in forward and another clunk. Or not. It doesn't happen every time but it seems like it is happening more often.)
Replacing this sensor, again from what I can tell online, doesn't look like something we can do in the driveway. So how much should I expect to have this sensor replaced and could that even be what is causing the first-thing-in-the-morning clunk?

V6? Turn the wheel full left, look behind the wheel on the left side cover of the transmission. Might need to take the wheel off for better access, but should be driveway doable. #18
I had same P0705 code. Replaced the Trans Range Sensor and now N and D do not light up on dashboard PRNDL indicator. I can make N and D illuminate by jiggling the shifter from side to side and they will stay lit for a limited amount of time. Is there some kind of switch associated with the shift handle in the passenger compartment? 2001 Accord lx
