Just picked up a 02 Accord LX with Power Locks/Windows. Prev Owner (old guy) could not remember if car came with Remotes or not. Did all Accords with power locks come with remotes from the factory? In doing some searching on the Net, I thought I had read something about the factory alarm system playing in somehow? If I can purchase replacement remotes, is there a recommended Seller/Source to buy from?

No, an LX does not have keyless entry unless the optional Honda keyless entry or security system was added.

So, if it doesn't have it, purchasing remotes is pointless.

 

Thanks - looking at the owners manual, I do not see the Security System Light that is shown located by the Door Lock Post so I guess it wasn't installed as an option on the car.

 

Just fyi, the security system light on the driver's door is only on EX models with the factory security system, that is not part of the add-on Honda systems.

 

Ok - so there's still a chance the car may have the system. Can you tell me how to determine if it does or not? There is a Red LED indicator light in the dash panel next to the Cruise Control if that means something.

 

The optional Honda accessory keyless or security control unit was generally installed on the backside of the driver's lower dash cover.

 

Figured out there's a Viper alarm installed. The P.O. finally coughed up a functioning remote and it does lock/unlock the doors in addition to setting/disarming the alarm.
