1989 civic stuck in Park
I could not find a tab or ?? On console to release brake as I saw on video.. I have taken console off transmission position switch and attempted to take out of park.. The handle is off change stick when pushing but on top down appears to work but cant take out of park.. All looks right ..Possible cable lock as well or us. Thank you
this isnt a ef civic shifter but on here you can see what im talking about

you remove the little plastic cover and then with a key or screw driver u just push down and it should go into gear
theres also another way to do this and thats disconnecting the battery
and then going into the car
put the key in as if to start the car and get the shifter out of park
let me know if any of the two options work for you

ok if non of the other ideas are working
then im guessing theres just somthing wrongwith the shifter itself
sounds like your going to have to take it apart and see why its jammed
good thing is that it can be taken apart with just a philips screw driver and a 10mm socket
take it apart and post some pictures

His picture is different, but the idea is the same. There is a hole to the right of the 'P' location of your shifter for you to stick your key in. This should allow you to move the shifter out of park.
