Default 06 rsx type-s block replacement options

I recently bought a 06 rsx type-s from a buddy. He slung a rod through the oil pan a few years ago. I have searched for days and can not find a definitive answer. I believe the head is still good. Can I use any other k20 or k24 blocks besides the z1 without having any issues or having to use kpro? Z1 engines are crazy expensive. Thanks in advance

You could use a K20A-2 short block with your Z1 head and the stock ECU would run it just fine. IF you are located in a part of the Country that gets annual inspections... using the older block in the newer car may be a problem to get past the BAR ****'s. Anything K24 will require K-Pro to properly tune it.

Thanks for the info. I don't have to worry with any inspections where I live. Would using the lower compression base model block be a big no no?

Yes if you aren't willing to get a K-Pro. The stock ECU will not compensate for the compression change... it doesn't know what you did.
